Seahawks Tackling

The Seattle Seahawks coaching staff led by Defensive Passing Game Coordinator Rocky Seto has produced an instructional video to educate coaches, players and fans outside of the organization about the team’s methods of tackling. The philosophy takes the head out of the play and increases safety, all while maintaining the toughness and physicality that makes the game great. If BBQ's could be delivered and then picked up afterwards, this would be greatly appreciated. Three parent volunteers are also needed as BBQ chefs and for food dispersal. Griffin Football's Kenton McDougall at the 2012 Ed Henick Senior Bowl

Greenall Football's Kenton McDougall had a great day as a member of the Football Saskatchewan's team South team at the 2012 "Ed Henick" Senior Bowl in Saskatoon on May 21st, 2012. Kenton finished the day with 8 carries for 63 yards (7.9 yards per carry average). Congratulations Kenton - your team is very proud of you.

From bench press to vertical leap, a great football player is a total athlete. This is your guide to strength and conditioning drills that will have you ready for football season.

Griffin Football Annual Spring Camp 2011

Greenall Griffin Football is holding it's annual Spring Football Camp, May 9th-13th, 4-6 pm each day.  Any students from grade 8 (at our feeder schools Pilot Butte, White City, Balgonie Elementary, McLean) and present Greenall students grades 9-11 are eligible to attend, at no charge.

Players are asked to bring a mouth guard and a set of grass cleats.  If they have a football girdle they should bring that as well.  Returning players from last season are required to attend the camp or they will not be playing with this program in the fall.  If returning players have work commitments, they need to make arrangements to book off work (this has been explained to you already!).

Next year's grade 9's and 10's (this year's 8's and 9's) are going to be evaluated at the camp to determine the best place for them to play in the fall - either with the new local bantam football program or with the Greenall Griffin High School program.  This evaluation is used to determine where these players will develop their skills the most.

Regina Minor Football, and the Regina Thunder proudly present:

Skills & drills to improve performance of youth level football players.

Clinicians will identify three problems common with youth age football players, and will provide skills and drills to improve the performance of the players. Each session will also have a question and answer period to provide specific feedback to any problematic areas that attendees may have.

All football positions will be covered (QB, WR, OL, RB, LB, DB, DL), as well as a presentation on practice planning and the role of the Head Coach, and the Offensive and Defensive Coordinators.

Griffin Football Banquet - Monday December 6th

The annual year-end Griffin Football Banquet will be held Monday, December 6th at the St. Mary's Hall, 2020 Winnipeg Street, in Regina.  Supper will start at 6 pm, with awards to follow.  All Griffin Football players and their parents/guests are invited to attend this special event.

2010 Greenall Griffins Football's "Best Athlete" Competition

We are trying something new this year at the start of training camp (August 25th, 4:30 pm) - Griffin Football's "Best Athlete" Competition!  It will be based on five test results:

1. 20 yard dash (tests quick acceleration)
2. 40 yard dash (tests overall speed)
3. Beep test (tests endurance)
4. Vertical Jump (tests jumping ability)
5. Bench Press (tests strength)

You will be ranked on each test and total points will be calculated.  Will it be you?  How competitive are you?  Are you ready and in shape?

2005 SHSAA 3A Provincial Final - Luther Lions 14 Greenall Griffins 8.  Former Griffin Brett Strang strips the ball from the Luther running back at the Greenall 4-yard line and hands it to Jared Dunlop who runs for a few yards before the whistle is blown.  Luther is somehow rewarded the ball and scores the game winning touchdown on the very next play.  So close, yet so far.
